How it began.

Meganwind Eoyang discovered Marshall B. Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication in 1997, and loves engaging with the challenges of deep connection, self-responsibility, and empowerment it offers.

Meganwind Eoyang grew up involved in street fighting on Chicago’s South Side, studied and taught martial arts and went on to learn full force fighting. Though she had more sense of physical safety, these combat skills offered no way of connecting with others. For her, Nonviolent Communication revealed effective ways to connect, and a new way to view the world.

She is delighted to share NVC principles and tools to spread empowerment and choice. She has offered training in Nonviolent Communication since 2001 for the public, colleges and organizations; individual NVC coaching and couples support sessions; mediation. Meganwind was a founding member of the Bay Area Nonviolent Communication’s (BayNVC’s) Safer Communities Project, which she managed for 14 years. She taught weekly NVC classes for people incarcerated in San Quentin State Prison, many who grew up in similar neighborhoods to hers, in local county jails, and for returning citizens and their families for 20 years. Meganwind loves supporting people to discover the many ways they have more power than they imagined.

In addition to Nonviolent Communication, several other practices inform her work. She studied with Peter Levine, developer of Somatic Experiencing, and with his teacher, Dick Olney, co-founder of the American Hypnotherapy Assn, who developed Self-Acceptance Training. More recently, she has embarked on professional training with Terry Real in Relational Life Therapy, primarily oriented toward working with couples. Occasionally her many years of shamanic practice influence sessions.

In 2022, she launched her independent NVC work as Winds o’Change, offering NVC coaching, couples support, NVC Foundations One & Two study series, and NVC mentoring.  Check her upcoming Classes or contact her to make an appointment by phone at 1-707-775-7178 or email her at meganwind.e@gmail.com
